Located at 1059 Nevada Avenue in Thermalito, the Cottage Guest Home provides an old fashioned home environment in a rural section of Oroville, California. It is simply a comfortable place to live.
The history of the Cottage Guest Home begins in 1953 when Mrs. Eloise Anderson's parents started their care home business. They acquired the property at 1059 Nevada Avenue as their home and began assisting elderly persons taking them into their home to live with them. As their care home business grew, the home was enlarged several times to its present size today. In 1975, after moving from New Jersey, Mrs. Eloise Anderson established her community care business in Oroville, CA. She recognized the need for specialized care for the elderly. She owned and operated the Anderson care home on Montgomery Street between 1975 and 1982. In 1980, she acquired the Cottage Guest Home that had been in her family since 1953 operated by her parents and she took over for them. She has operated the facility until 2008 when she sold to the Oroville Economic and Community Development Corporation. Although she has sold the home, she has remained active in its operation using her many years of experience to provide personalized quality care in a loving, homelike environment.
Mrs. Anderson represents the heart and sole of the Cottage Guest Home and exemplifies what it means to provide care to others. Her 33 year career in the care home business illustrates her dedication and commitment to the well-being of those in need. She is what the Cottage Guest Home is all about. It is in her image that our care is provided and we strive daily to ensure that her reputation for excellence in the care facility business continues. Her continued association with "her home" is our highly regarded asset. The care offered at the Cottage Guest Home is in the tradition of the Anderson families 55 year commitment in the service of others. While ownership has now changed, the home will always remain the "Anderson" Cottage Guest Home.
